Sources & Liner Notes

The intent of the Heat Warps Presents: A Miles Davis Live Journey is to enable listeners to evaluate and better understand the evolution of Miles Davis’ creative output from 1969 through 1975.

All audio, video and photography presented here are intended for reference purposes only. While lossless audio is offered when available, this site is not intended as a single source of truth for the finest audio in circulation. If you desire that, you likely also know where to find it.

A sincere thank you to all who have shared audio and video for this project. This endeavor would be far less comprehensive without your contributions.

I’m really just a Miles Davis enthusiast with a bit of time on his hands. This project would not be possible without the source material provided by these Miles experts:

All session dates, venues, setlists, and lineup info are courtesy of Pete Losin’s Miles Ahead.

Many details, including verbatim accounts from band members and Miles himself, are courtesy of Miles: The Autobiography, and Paul Tingen’s essential Miles Beyond.

Further analysis is from Bob Gluck’s The Miles Davis Lost Quintet and Other Revolutionary Ensembles.

Much of the streaming audio featured is courtesy of the phenomenal Milestones YouTube channel.
